Tip: Put the Spirit of Christmas in your business everyday
Fred: The holiday season is here and everyone is thinking about shopping for presents, getting the house decorated, and helping those less fortunate. Why is it that some of us only give back this time of year?
Lyna: As I listen to the old Christmas songs that are played year after year; a phrase is sung that gets my attention: "It's my favorite time of year—the time we spread good cheer." Why is there a specific time of year that our consciousness is raised to where we think of helping others?
Fred: Exactly my point. Food is bountiful to the needy at the end of the year, but where is it coming from when the holidays are over?
Lyna: Why do we feel so joyous at Christmas time? Perhaps giving is the key to happiness.
Fred: And even more, when you are feeling happy within yourself, doesn't your life flow more easily?
Lyna: Aha! So doesn't it make sense that if you give of yourself more in your business, it too will flow more easily?
Fred: Ziz Ziglar said: "You will get everything in life that you want if you just help enough people get what they want."
Lyna: Other successful business people also seem to believe this insight. For example;
"The more I help others succeed, the more I succeed." Ray Kroc
"Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have." Jim Rohn
"The best minute you spend is the one you invest in people." Ken Blanchard
Fred: Okay, so I feel warm and fuzzy for helping someone else. But how can sharing my business secrets help my business grow?
Lyna: Look at it this way. When you share information that can help another person with their business, you create a mentor-student relationship. The student may buy some of your products or services and will praise you to others, which will bring you more business.
Fred: So what we are realizing in business is that if we focus on what makes us feel better—helping others—we will also be helping ourselves by opening the flow of energy that will bring us success.
Lyna: Flora Edwards summed it up when she said:
"In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us."
Fred: Christmas all year round. It works.
